Dark Moon Rising (s/s 103) snuck in-between slow-starter Matador Man (s/s 103) and a determined Roy’s Riviera (s/s 102) to clinch an exciting Kings Cup at Greyville’s Sunday meeting. The consistent son of Ideal World has provided plenty of fun for his connections whilst winning seven of 21 starts and attaining 7 places. He’s won over shorter and tried much further in the Gold Cup but appears at his utmost best around this mile distance.

San Fermin (speed score 100) is a very talented filly. She came from the back of the field with a fast closing burst (16.1 seconds final 300m) to outrun Blonde Vision (s/s 99) in a strong MR 92 handicap at Turffontein on Saturday.

The daughter of Charge Forward is unreliable due to soundness concerns, but she showed that she can really motor when feeling good. The runner up is another worth following, especially over her favoured 1200m trip when racing handy.

Sarah (s/s 89 +) is a promising What a Winter juvenile filly. She romped in Race 3, leaving odds on favourite Mawsool trailing in her wake. Like San Fermin, Sarah sprinted home in just over 16 seconds for the closing 300m to finish fraction and can be followed with some conviction in upcoming starts.

A competitive MR 94 handicap at Durbanville saw Kenny Trix (s/s 105) prevail over Arabian Air (s/s 104) and the dependable Ready Steady Go (s/s 104) with course specialist Percival (s/s 103) close up. They went hard throughout suggesting this is likely to turn out a key race, and even those runners finishing further back like Orakal and Man about Town seem teed up to have productive Winters in the Cape.

In the preceding contest, Miss Plumcake (s/s 93 +) powered home. This Byword filly is making neat figure progress after getting an 89 + in October 2018 and should go on to win her fair share of races.
