Litigation (speed score 100) raced handy all the way round Turffontein and kept going to win the Grade 3 Victory Moon. The colt had run nicely (s/s 104) in the Greyville 1900 back in May, but modest efforts since then saw punters looking the other way on Sunday. The son of Greys Inn started at 20/1, managing to stave off another outsider, East Coast (s/s 99). Litigation is trained by Sean Tarry.

In another upset, Bella Chica (s/s 95) at 25/1 ran down Big Burn in the Gardenia Stakes with market springer, Flowerbomb (s/s 94) running on too late to be third a neck away. Bella Chica, sired by Rafeef, was saddled by Ashley Fortune.

Another notable performance came from improving Moonshiningthrough (s/s 98) who outdueled odds on fave, Desert Miracle in a Pinnacle Stakes. The JAJ van Vuuren conditioned daughter of Rafeef (again!) has now won four of five starts, the lightweight taking advantage of a soft lead in a small field.

Jet Dark (s/s 110 +) was supreme in the Cape Mile at Kenilworth delivering the level of performance worthy of a multiple Grade 1 winner. He will be trained aggressively by Justin Snaith through the Summer before heading off to stallion duties at Drakenstein, like his sire, Trippi.

Jet Dark will target the Green Point, King’s Plate and Met. Given that he can run higher than 116 +, putting him the elite stratosphere of SA thoroughbreds, he is a horse that can be followed with confidence against the best.

Baratheon (s/s 99) made the most of a feather weight to go start to finish in the Woolavington over 2400m. Trainer Piet Botha has done well with this son of Jackson and will go next for either middle distance races (Peninsula/Met) or longer stayers contests with his gutsy charge.

Kwinta’s Light (s/s 95 +, has run 101 at best) came through too strongly for opposition in the Laisserfaire Stakes over 1100m. Trainer Snaith explained that she had been unluckily denied during her KZN campaign, so in a way this was a deserved return to the winner’s circle for the Gimmethegreenlight filly.
