Main Defender is such an exciting horse! The son of Pathfork won the Got the Greenlight Stakes running an excellent figure for a three-year-old of 108; the same number he attained in the Graham Beck, also over the Turffontein 1400m. Prior to that he hit a towering 115 in the Spring Challenge – he really has tremendous natural ability!

Barbaresco did well to give him a run for his money – making a bold bid down the inner worth a fig of 106. The JAJ van Vuuren grey Gimmethegreenlight gelding must be followed based on this fine effort.

Silver Hills (s/s 100) won the Wolf Power Stakes in a cliffhanger over Unzen (s/s 99) and Silent War (s/s 99). Barely a neck separated the first three at the line.

Hold My Hand (s/s 98) finally cracked her second win after repeatedly placing in Graded features. The three-year-old Gold Standard filly raced somewhat handier this time under Richard Fourie (which was the right tactical move,) and held off a sustained bid from rank outsider, Future Girl (s/s 97) to land short odds favoritism.

Two other Kenilworth performances for the Horse Watch notebook were delivered by Promettere (s/s 103) who again flashed home for a stylish score and is turning into a quality miler; whilst Nordic Chief (s/s 99) showed speed and determination to land a competitive sprint handicap, even though he was tiring the last part after going hard early.

Candice Bass Robinson raided the Eastern Cape on Friday to win the Lady’s Bracelet with Gold Poker Game (s/s 97). The winner is also a daughter of Gold Standard and she beat off local heroine, Luna Halo (s/s 96) by three-quarters of a length.
