Double Superlative (s/s 111) bounced back after a serious tendon injury, to dart past long time leader Rascallion (s/s 110) and win the Met at Kenilworth.

The winner is trained by Justin Snaith who must be commended for reviving Double Superlative’s fortunes – he was an outstanding three-year-old and has now got another coveted G1 as a five-year-old entire.

Odds on favourite See It Again failed to fire, clunking up to be fourth behind Without Question (s/s 109) as three longshots filled the trifecta slots.

The second horse, also one to make an admirable comeback and run classy numbers after a tendon problem, was intelligently ridden by big race hoop Bernie Fayd Herbe. But Daniel Muscutt kept Double Superlative about his task to switch in and wear down front running, Rascallion just short of the line and win by half a length.

Dyce (s/s 109) triumphed in the Cape Flying Championships, by outgunning Thunderstruck (s/s 108) who inherited favoritism after original fave, Isivunguvungu was scratched when cut at the start.

Lucky Houdalakis was the winning conditioner – he too has done a fine job assisting the William Longsword entire recover from two serious leg injuries to eventually fulfill his huge sprinting potential. Dyce transferred excellent Highveld form to the coast and was full value for the G1 success with Craig Zackey in the irons.

Wonder-mare, Princess Calla (s/s 107) continues to amaze – she added yet another G1 to her resume when returning to best in the Majorca. Sean Tarry had her spot on when it mattered, and she duly romped under Richard Fourie.

Rascova (s/s 101) and Double Grand Slam (s/s 101) followed her in, but they were comprehensively outrun by the “Princess.”

Notable figures recorded earlier were posted by At My Command (s/s 106 in a strong Cape A Stakes) Ripple Effect (s/s 100 when causing a boil -over in the Olympic Duel Stakes) and Green With Envy (s/s 100) under top weight in the Politician Stakes.

The last named looks seriously live for the upcoming Derby in the accomplished hands of trainer, Dean Kannemeyer.
