“Last week, Brett Crawford cleaned up in the Cape. This time around Justin Snaith struck a five-timer at Durbanville with four piloted by Richard Fourie, who is riding with panache at present. Very promising, Bishop’s Bounty (speed score 97) Pete’s Girl (s/s 71) Cock a Hoop (s/s 86) A Time To Dream and Overshadow (s/s 90 +) formed part of Snaith’s haul.
A Time To Dream raced handy to win a strong Allowance Plate for fillies prepping for upcoming features. The early pace was sluggish which affected the final time. Second placed Beach Goddess is the one to take out of this contest as she finished with zest after being dropped in from a wide draw.
The racing is getting stronger again on the Highveld, moving into the Spring season. The winner of the last race Bulleting Home (s/s 98 +) is a paragon of consistency having won five and finished second eight times from 18 starts. Trainer Sean Tarry had a productive afternoon at Turffontein. In addition to Bulleting Home, he also won with Modjadji (s/s 93) Intergalactic (s/s 91 +) and came close with the improving Fieldmarshal Fenix (s/s 94).
Gary Alexander also has his string in good nick – long shot winners Top Shot (s/s 96) together with King and Empire (s/s 95) added to the tally.
Humidor (s/s 104) ran right up to his best again when racing switched to the Greyville Polytrack on Sunday. He beat off a potent field in a MR 100 handicap, including Celtic Captain, Ten Gun Salute and Beat the Retreat. The placed horses all scored 102 and have more wins in them. Earlier the mare Pearl Emblem (s/s 99) ran a career best figure carrying a mosquito weight. She has been skillfully placed by trainer Paul Lafferty using claiming apprentices, and she returned after a 43 day freshening to double up and record a fifth career win from 24 starts.”
