Snaith Racing sent out two on Saturday that looked unstoppable at Greyville – Miyabi Gold and Belgarion – both duly got the job done with assured victories at odds on.

Miyabi Gold, who towered above the rest of the East Coast field on official merit ratings, worked out a smooth trip just off the early tempo before rocketing clear in the home stretch. The daughter of Silvano does good work at Greyville as she was only beaten two lengths in last years’’ July off a light weight. She’s a 22/1 lurker on Interbet for this year’s big race.

Belgarion has been targeted at the upcoming July for months now. There was much to like about the way in which he held a handy position before drawing away when required in the G2 WSB 1900. He has now won six of eight starts and is yet another quality progeny of Dynasty.

As he will carry a handy, middle-weight, Belgarion is currently Interbet’s 6/1 ante-post favourite for the Durban July, to be run on the 25th. Other market leaders quoted in single figures include class acts Hawwaam, Rainbow Bridge and Snaith’s market mover, Bunker Hunt.

Marchingontogether was also a wide margin winner on Saturday. Trained by Gavin van Zyl and ridden with verve by Warren Kennedy, he proved much the best in the G3 Lonsdale Stirrup Cup over 2400m.

By Pathfork out of the Montjeu mare, Souen, he clearly relishes tests of endurance having run next to Summer Cup winner Zillzaal behind the ill-fated Samurai Warrior in the SA Derby last year. Interbet punters are advised to keep Marchinontogether on their side in any staying race he contests in the near future.
